About Retro-reflectivityTo the right: The retroreflective tape on the LITR 3002T is illuminated by the aircrafts own landing lights during nighttime operation.
Retroreflectivity incorporates the science of Galileo (optics) with Newton (conservation of energy), Einstein (general relativity) and Schrödinger (quantum mechanics). The retro reflector looks simple and similar to ordinary reflective devices, however the similarity ends there. I.C.A.O. Annex 14 has certified retroreflective runway and taxiway lighting. The standards of retrorefletivity and required lumens of light is defined and the technical requirements are delineated for airport operation. Only the FAA certified products developed and manufactured by Reginald Bennett International meet and exceed these requirements
